Day 221 - New Toys
To end this uploading session on a positive note... I popped into this old camera shop where I lived and I got into a ridiculously yet very interesting conversation with the man who owned the shop. Turns out he's an Engineer too, we spent nearly three hours talking about cameras, from polaroids to 35mm to digital to cheap nikon & canon lens, even took a lens apart, he taught me a few things on how lens work and whilst this was going I kept picking up stuff to buy. There was one that caught my eye, a tamron 500mm f8, he said he thought it was an olympus fit but taking apart, we realised it could be one for television cameras so I'm taking my om-2 next time to try it on and seeing if it fits. I told him about my flash and he gave me 2, 1 of which needs a bit of fixing.
In the end I gave ?35 and walked out with:
Prakitca L2 with a 50mm f2.8,
38mm and 24mm f2.8 om-2 lens,
sigma 24mm f2.8 FD fit (works with my canon 500D, used it to take this photo but can only be used wide open)
Vivitar 550 FD flashgun,
Miranda 630 CD flashgun,
and a massive smile on my face.
Another positive was when I got home, I dont know what happened or what I did, personally I think it got jealous but my yn-460 started wrking properly again :).. all in all, good day for my hobby :)
Say hello to the new toy [Day 18/365]
I bought this on Sunday and it arrived today. My new toy - a Panasonic pocket camcorder. It's one of my last minute buys to get me ready for my holiday on Thursday.
I love my D5000 to bits, but it's not made for videos. Which I'm fine about. Though I only realised late last week that sometimes there are some things that need moving pictures instead of stills.
Looking around online I almost went for a Flip. Almost. Then saw this Panasonic, read a few reviews and went for it.
Here's hoping it gets put to good use!
